In a big, tall tree in a great, big jungle, lived an Orangutan called Tan!
Tan and his mother loved to play.
It was their favourite thing to do!
All day long they swung through vines and jumped from branch to branch.
That was until…

The rumbling began.
For weeks and weeks, the rumbling got louder and louder.
It would rumble the ground, and rumble the leaves, and rumble poor Tan in his big, tall tree!
Then one day his mother exclaimed “We have to move far away from this place!”
Page 10 and 11
Tan was upset, he didn’t want to go, but the rumbling was getting closer and closer.
It was time to leave, and they had to leave quickly.
They had to swing faster than ever before.
Tan was fast but his mother was faster.
He was getting tired; his arms were aching and so he couldn’t keep up.

Tan couldn’t see his mother anymore.
Which way did she turn?
Was it down the river? Or up the hill?
He was getting very worried and only knew one place he could go.
Back to his home in the big, tall tree in the great, big jungle…

But when Tan reached what was once his home he was confused.
There were no more branches for Tan to climb on and no more vines for Tan to swing on.
All that was left were stumps on the ground. All the other animals had fled.
He was all alone…
But then… suddenly…

He heard a huge “OUUUUCHHHH!!!!!”.
Tan looked over to see a rhino who seemed like he needed some help.
“Are you okay?” Tan asked
“No, I’m not. My favourite horn is broken!” Rhino sadly said
“Don’t worry Rhino, I can help!” said Tan

Orangutan took some branches and some twine and built a new horn for Rhino to wear!
“Thank you little one! This is so much better, now I must help you!” Rhino insisted.
“Could you help me find my mother? I don’t know where to begin.”
“Let’s head this way!” Rhino boomed

Tan and Rhino began their journey out of the stumps.
But then, they heard squark from up above.
“Hey down there! I know how to help you! But first you need to help me too.” Hornbill squawked.
“I’ll do anything for you!” Tan begged
“Build me a trap to catch my prey and I will guide you to your mother” instructed the Hornbill.

Tan took some leaves and tree sap and built hornbill a brand-new trap.
Hornbill was incredibly grateful.
“Thank you, Tan, you have helped me greatly so now I must help you; I saw her cross the river, over the bridge!”
Page 24 and 25
No bridge was there.
All that remained were broken twigs on the floor.
“It’s the rumbling, it happened again! My mother will be worried, she doesn’t know where I am.” Tan cried
“I’ve got an idea!” Rhino announced
Page 26 and 27
“Hop on and hold on tight to my horn!” said Rhino as he rushed through the swirling rapids with hornbill and Tan on his back.
Tan was so close to his new home; he could even see his mother in the distance. “I’m almost there, rhino! Thank you for your help!”

Tan climbed up to meet his mother. He was finally safe again and there was no more rumbling. Although Tan had fun making friends along the way, he was happier than ever before. Even though they didn’t live in a big, tall tree, being with his mother was everything Tan wanted and more.
