Negotiated Programme Briefs.  The first brief I created for myself was to create a compelling narrative for a picture book which has a thought-provoking message behind it.  This will be in the format of a children’s picture book and will be targeted at children from 2 - 8 years old. I also want to make the story interesting enough for the parents to enjoy, This by them being  able to see the moral behind the narrative and learn something from it too.  The second brief is for an illustrated trail. For this I will design a brand-new trail for Trentham Estate that is engaging and educational for children. This will include posters/signs dotted around the Italian Gardens for the children to follow the story along. (should have been published 9/12/21) For this one, I wanted the whole illustration to be the sign. This is because I think this one illustration explains everything the narrative is saying. You can see Perseus is in Medusa's lair and that he uses his shield to see Medusa's face.  In this sign, you can see this is when Perseus finally attacks Medusa and beheads her. I think that this positioning is a way way to show the sequence in the story. I think the colours go well together too. The only problem could be Medusa's shin tone is green and does blend in with the background colour. I could always add a drop shadow to prevent this from happening.  This is the final sign in the gardens where everything needs to be rounded up. So I have the king turning to stone, Perseus reuniting with his mother and then Perseus dancing at the end for the final question. 

 

 

 Colour thumbnails of Back Cover I had two different options I wanted to do for the back cover. I either wanted the mother and the orangutan together on the page. Or I just wanted the background. When designing the full book cover, I want it to look like a continuation of the front cover on the next page. Because of this reason, I think the first illustration with the mother holding the Orangutan could be a little bit confusing.  Full Book Cover Here's the final book cover design. I think that the colours I have used are really bright. It allows both the Orangutan and the "Help!" stand out.
