Recreating a movie poster

 Early Development of film poster

I picked out Ponyo out of the hat. When I first saw it, I had no idea of the film or images I could recreate. So, I researched the plot and recreated iconic moments of the film. The ones that stuck out were the initial meeting of Sosuke and Ponyo and so I started to surround my work around that encounter that is a pivotal
moment of the film. 

This is what I came up with in the time allocated to this project. In this illustration you can clearly tell these are the main characters of the movie. You can also deduce that these film will be centred around fish and water because of the background. Overall, I don't like the final outcome as I think its too obvious of the message. So, I decided to take out the people and just keep the fish. 

Although this is more basic of an approach, I do prefer it. If I was to continue this project, I would Make the outline of the fish create the two faces of Sosuke and Ponyo. I think this would be more impactful and less self explanatory than my previous design. I found this task to be quite difficult as I especially had no prior knowledge to this film beforehand. However, it was enjoyable to research into the plot and create my own interpretation of the film.
