Perseus and Medusa Trail- Story Development

 The Legend of Perseus and Medusa and you! 

Perseus is the son of Zeus and Danae. But he and his mother Danae have been shipped away to an island ruled by the evil King Polydectes! The King wants Danae to himself and has sent Perseus on a dangerous mission far away. Perseus can only return to the island if he brings back the head of Medusa. Help Perseus defeat Medusa and to save his mother from the King!

To help Perseus complete this mission, you will have to complete the following; follow the trail using the numbers on the map, answer each question about the story of Perseus and Medusa and take the first letter of each answer to find the hidden word. 


1.  Medusa is one of 3 Gorgan sisters, they all have snakes for their hair! But Medusa wasn't born like this she was a mortal just like you! She used to be a young, beautiful maiden that everyone admired. But one day she became so vain that she was cursed into becoming a monster! If you dare to look at her she will instantly turn you into stone! Help Perseus find items that can help him beat Medusa!

2. Perseus needs to visit three very old witches to obtain three objects that will help us along the journey. Unfortunately they live at the end of the world and he can't get there alone! So Perseus asks the Goddess of War, Athena, the God of Speed, Hermes and you, the brave warrior to take him to the old witches and to continue his quest. Hermes helps you and Perseus by gifting you both winged sandals which can help you to fly to the end of the world and to borrow the objects from the witches.

3. When Perseus, Athena, Hermes and yourself reached the end of the world. You need to ask for help from the witches. The old witches have the three main objects that are needed to help Perseus on his mission. The objects were; a cap which turned him invisible, a sword to behead Medusas and a mirrored shield. On your journey Perseus will also needed to take a bag to keep Medusas head in- when he defeats her!

Question- What is the power of the cap, that Perseus needed to take from the old witches which will allow him to stay unseen?

4. The old witches were very rude and wouldn't give Perseus the objects. So, Perseus came up with a plan. The witches share one eye and one tooth and every so often they need to pass it to each other. In the middle of them passing it Perseus stole the eye and force the witches to hand over the cap, the shield and the sword. 

Question- The old witches had to share two objects. One of them was a tooth, can you name the other object that helped them see?

Swiftly follow Perseus to number 5 to finally defeat Medusa. 


5.  In this legend, you will follow Perseus to Medusa's layer. Put on your cap and turn invisible. With Perseus, take your shield and look into it's reflection so you don't stare into her eyes! Perseus has swiftly used his sword to cut off Medusa's head! He carefully puts Medusa's head into his bag and needs to return home. You have helped Perseus complete his dangerous mission.

6.  Perseus has returned to his island where his mother was held hostage. He takes out Medusas head are turns the evil King to stone! He saves his mother from the torturous rule and is so happy he wants to celebrate. Dance with Perseus and his mother and show him your favourite move!
