Perseus and Medusa Trail- Finished Character Designs
Here's my final design for Medusa. I decided to make her skin green to make her look more like a serpent. The way the clothes are drawn on her makes it look structure while still maintaining a bit of femininity. Which is the way in which Medusa presents herself. I gave her red lips to contrast with her skin and hair colour to make her sneaky smile more recognisable.
Here's more development of Perseus. As you will see later on in this post I did eventually change a couple features to make him stand out more. However, this design is exactly what I pictured in my head. He has all of his tools to defeat Medusa. He looks strong and confident- just how I wanted it to be. These characteristics will make him more appealing to children and they will want to help him along his journey.
Here's my final design for Hermes. I gave him a more olive complexion compared to Perseus. Mainly so that children can easily differentiate. I also gave him narrower eyes and smaller wings on both his helmet and shoes. I kept his staff in his hand and a golden helmet so that he still seems godly.
Here's my updated and final character design for Perseus. I changed the colour of his helmet and the colour of the wings of his shoes to gold. The main reason I changed the wings was because these are an important part to the story, so that Perseus can fly. I wanted these to look more special than Hermes normal flying shoes and the most obvious way was to make them golden- to appear more godly. This was the same reason for the helmet colour change too.
Here's my final design for Athena. As she is the god of war, her items needed to be gold to prove her status. The face is drawn friendly and relaxed so that she looks more trustworthy to children. I also made her shield copper instead of gold so that Perseus's looks brighter and has more impact on the audience.
