First Page
Up high in the trees lived an orangutan and his mother.
Never alone they spent every day with each other
Swinging and Singing they had lots of fun!
That was until the rumbling had begun.
Second Page
All through the jungle and echoing in the caves,
was a sound of something that never behaves.
Louder than the elephants stomping on leaves,
this sound vibrated the branches on all of the trees.
Third Page
Then one day his mother exclaimed,
"We have to move far away from this place!"
Orangutan, still unsure,
didn't understand why he could not live there anymore.
Forth Page
Poor Orangutan never wanted to leave,
but he knew his mother was right and he had to believe.
And so they left as fast as they could,
the rumbling got louder,
something was up to no good.
Fifth Page
Orangutan was tired and couldn't keep swinging,
his fingers were sore and his arms were aching.
Slower and slower the orangutan got,
he could not keep up and so he forgot,
Sixth Page
He couldn't remember where his mother turned next,
was it past the river? He was getting quite vexed
"Where are you mother?!?" Orangutan cried.
Which way to go? He couldn't decide.
Seventh Page
Orangutan had never been alone,
he was safe with his mother- now he's in the unknown.
He could only think of one thing to do,
Eight Page
and that was to go back to the place he once knew,
When Orangutan reached his destination,
Nothing was left to be seen and there was no explanation.
Ninth Page
The big tall trees were now stumps on the ground,
And his home was nowhere to be found.
Where could he swing? There was no branches to climb.
Tenth Page
He wanted to explore, but he knew there was no time.
His mother must be worried, he had never been gone for so long,
He created a plan and wanted to stay strong.
Eleventh Page
Orangutan was clever but he needed help,
from a friend he could rely on. And then heard a huge "YEELPPP!"
he saw a rhinoceros in the distance,
Who seemed to be sad and wanted some assistance.
Twelfth Page
"My favourite horn has broken,
when I was trying to pry this branch open"
the unfortunate rhinoceros exclaimed.
"Don't worry I can help!" Orangutan explained
Thirteenth Page
Orangutan used some vines scattered on the ground,
and a stick he had found laying around.
"Here you go rhino" Orangutan said,
Fourteenth Page
"Now tie this new horn on top of your head!"
Rhinoceros was happy once again,
he wanted to return the favour, so then...
Fifteenth Page
Orangutan and Rhino were on their way,
Until they reached the hornbill who squarked "HEY!,
if you help me to find and discover,
more of my prey, I can help you find your mother."
Sixteenth Page
And so Orangutan found some leaves
and created a trap so hornbill can be relieved.
"Here you go Hornbill, use this and you be
happy then ever and free to help me!"
Seventeenth Page
Hornbill spends his time in the sky,
he knew which way to go as he had a watchful eye,
"Follow me, towards the river,
your mother turned left, you will not miss her!"
Eighteenth Page
When they arrived past lake,
His mother was not there, it must have been a mistake.
Orangutan was beginning to be downhearted,
But then he heard more rumbling had started.
Nineteenth Page
But it was a different kind of rumble,
it was the sound of stomping that booms throughout the jungle.
An elephant appeared from trees and said,
"I know where your mother went, so please don't dread!
Twentieth Page
Follow me, she's just round the corner,
She's hanging in a brand new tree, I just saw her!"
Orangutan was truly ecstatic,
He saw the tree yelled 'That's it!"
Twenty First Page

And said he would always be there until the end,
He was grateful for all the help and times they share,
Now he know's how it feels to have friends who care.
Twenty Second Page
But now it was time to reunite with mother,
Because nothing compared than the love they had for each other.
Orangutan climbed to the top of the tree,
And was so excited that he could see..
Twenty Third Page
His mother up there in their new home,
With open arms, she said "I will never again leave you alone!"
Orangutan was happy in his new tree,
Because being with his family is the best place to be.
Twenty Forth Page
Now Orangutan spends his time swinging away,
With all his new friends beside him in the day,
and his mother watches over them with glee,
as there's no more rumbles that they have to flee.
